Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
When any of the above functions are hampered, in most cases, incoordination of the pelvic floor muscles is the cause. Reasons for incoordination could be weakness, pain, tightness or increased tone in those muscles.
At Lotus Physical Therapy and Wellness, we do thorough evaluation to diagnose the type of incoordination and dysfunction, create new muscle memory and develop a strong foundation to enable functions on demand.
Pregnancy
We use different techniques to improve tissue mobility such as, muscle energy techniques to improve joint mobility and symmetry, soft tissue release to improve muscle tone and flexibility and exercise to activate muscles.
Patient education includes appropriate ergonomic maneuvers to limit musculoskeletal stresses and improve coordination and balance during the pregnancy. We also provide special education on conducive labor positions for patients with certain other conditions.
Men's Health
Did you know that men have pelvic floor muscles too?
Men also suffer from similar types of issues as women like incontinence, urges and pain in the pelvic region. In addition to these conditions, you may also suffer from Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS), chronic nonbacterial Prostatitis (CP), erectile dysfunction or painful ejaculation.
These issues need a multimodal approach and pelvic floor physical therapy can alleviate these symptoms through improved muscle strength, coordination and trigger point release, and flexibility of the nerves, fascia and other connective tissues.
Postpartum
To achieve your personal goals, we at Lotus Physical Therapy and Wellness, perform thorough evaluations, assessments and examinations from an ortho-pelvic perspective and create individualized plans of care. Physical therapy is a great resource for postpartum incontinence, increased urinary frequency and urgency, pelvic pain, lower back/mid back/neck pain, painful intercourse or diastasis recti types of conditions.
